My end-of-year flexible, collaborative & student-centred lesson menu

Level: Entry 3 – Level 2

I have used these tasks in my live sessions, but all of them may well be used in the asynchronous mode too. What is more, some of the content created by your students may be creatively used in your induction week next year.

  • Class Quiz

This is the only task on this list that requires some planning time. There are two alternatives, the questions are written by the teacher or the students, all are based on the material covered in class. Allow a few days before the class for students to contribute.

Asynchronous mode alternative: do it as Google/Microsoft quiz

  • My year at …” collaborative writing using a shared document

Give students some options to choose from, consider dividing students into groups:

  1. a story (beginnings to be provided, could be done as a speaking activity)
  2. an article
  3. a letter

Asynchronous mode alternative: each student writes their own part of the story/letter/article using a shared document

  • Q&A session

Prepare some questions to start with and encourage students to add their own questions too.
